A Franco-Flemish ormolu-mounted tulipwood, amaranth and parquetry commode
Late 18th century
The later moulded rectangular white-veined grey marble top above three panelled frieze drawers, above two further long drawers inlaid sans traverse simulating three panels, the sides with conforming panels, on turned tapering legs with simulated fluting and terminating in toupie feet, bearing the stamp C. Wolff, with paper label inscibed Merzbach, minor restorations
90cm. high x 126cm. wide x 60cm. deep

Lot Essay

A related commode, of similar shape and with identical contrasting pilasters was sold anonymously at Christie's London, 14 December 1995, lot 78.
