The design for this hall lantern, by Henry N. Hooper & Co. is illustrated in their 1850 catalogue. It is listed as 'No 616. Hall Lantern, for oil or gas, Arabesque'. Gerald T. Gowitt, 19th Century Elegant Lighting, Argand, Sinumbra, and Solar Lamps, 2002, p. 28 and p. 39.
