A bronze figure of Avalokiteshvara
Swat Valley, 7th/8th century
Seated in dhyanasana over a double-lotus base with his right hand extended, clad in a long pleated dhoti tied at his waist and an antelope skin draped over his left shoulder, further adorned by a necklace, bracelets and armlets, his face in a benign expression with inset copper lips, silver eyes and a silver urna centered above his arched eyebrows, flanked by elongated earlobes with large round earrings, his hair pulled into a high chignon and secured with a tall crown
