QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The top finely carved with a scene of four bearded immortals and boy attendants holding auspicious objects in a mountainous retreat, within narrow borders of shou characters combined with bats carrying beribboned wan symbols and peach sprays, the sides of the cover and box carved with cartouches enclosing various flowers and flowering branches growing amidst rocks and separated by the Eight Buddhist Emblems (bajixiang), all reserved on diaper grounds, interior and base lacquered black

Herberts, Oriental Lacquer, London, 1962, pp. 26-7, which was dated to the 17th century.
