Lot Essay

This console-table is in the manner of Michel-Victor Cruchet, sculpteur-ornamaniste, who supplied decoration for Empress Eugénie at Saint-Cloud, worked at the Tuileries and Fontainebleu and was awarded a silver medal at the 1851 Great Exhibition in London. A comparable console and centre-table are illustrated in D. Ledoux-Lebard Le Mobilier Français du XIXe siècle, Paris, 1984, p. 140).
