Husayn al-Fakhkhar al-Shirazi was a 16th century calligrapher of Shiraz who is recorded by Qadi Ahmad as being related to the Atabaks of Fars and an established scribe of Shiraz (Calligraphers and Painters, A Treatise by Qadi Ahmad son of Mir-Munshi, translated by V. Minorsky, Washington 1959, p. 76 and Qazi Mir Ahmad Munshi Qomi, Golestan-e Honar, ed. by A. Soheyli-Khwansari, Tehran, 1352, p. 34). His recorded work includes a Qur'an dated AH 972/1564-65 AD in the Khalili Collection (D. James, After Timur, The Nasser D. Khalili Collection of Islamic Art, 1992, cat. 45), a copy of the Bahjat al-Mabahij in the Gulistan Palace Library dated 21 Jumada al-Awwal AH 951/21 August 1544 AD and two calligraphic pages in the Topkapi (Mehdi Bayani, Ahval va Asar-e Khosh-Nevisan, Vol. IV, Tehran, 1358 sh, p. 52).
