BY SHAH MAHMUD NISHAPURI, SAFAVID IRAN, 16TH CENTURY
Persian manuscript on paper, 10ll. of elegant black nasta'liq arranged in 5 panels of alternating larger diagonal and smaller horizontal text in two columns, gold intercolumnar and interlinear rules, small triangular panels of gold and polychrome illumination, the lower left hand panel with the signature of Shah Mahmud al-Nishapuri, with wide borders of delicate gold floral scrolls interlaced with smaller blue floral scrolls and cusped triangular headpiece, laid down between later gold and polychrome illuminated borders on cream card, slight scuffing
