A MEISSEN SILVER-GILT MOUNTED GOLD UND SILBERCHINESEN CYLINDRICAL TANKARD AND COVER
CIRCA 1725, THE AUGSBURG DECORATION ALMOST CONTEMPORARY, THE MOUNTS MARKED FOR ELIAS ADAM
Decorated in the Seuter workshop in silberchinesen with a vignette of a seated figure and servant before a table within a gilt pagoda-shaped cartouche issuing diaper-pattern scrolled panels and supporting flanking figures on scroll pedestals, gilt with similar lesser vignettes to the reverse and birds perched on flowering branches, the domed silver-gilt cover engraved with a central flowerhead reserved against a textured ground, the rim with a band of interlocking strapwork and shell ornament, with bifurcated scroll thumbpiece, the footrim with stiff-leaf moulded mount, slight wear to gilt rims and minor wear to vignettes
