This work is number 2 from the sold-out edition of 7 + 2 AP + 1 HC.

With an eye for drawing out subversive subtext of seemingly everyday situations, Erwin expands upon the conventions of American iconography in his work The Ice Cream Parlour. As part of the larger Rockwell-inspired series Rain, this image depicts 'the moment between action and reaction' implying absence and sorrow lurking within the commonplace experience. (Olaf quoted in British Journal of Photography, 10 September 2008, p.26)

Olaf, a photographer and filmmaker, studied at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. His works have been exhibited internationally, including the group show, Netherlands Now and a forthcoming solo show at Fotomuseum, The Hague. His work is held in a number of private and institutional collections, including Fundació COFF Collection, San Sebastián; Rijksmuseum and Stedlijk Museum, Amsterdam. He lives and works in Amsterdam.
