A PALE CELADON AND RUSSET JADE SCABBARD FITTING. 2ND/1ST CENTURY BC
with minor areas of white alteration and iron residue to the underside, carved to the flattened top surface with a beast-head to the terminal with large eyes and pencil incised bushy eye brows, c-scrolls and spirals to the back of the creature; an olive jade with almost complete white alteration, also with iron-residue to the underside, with similar incised decoration as the above; a brown jade circular sword pommel with artifical alteration, the raised central roundel with four grouping of swirls surrounded by dense scrolling nodes, the reverve side with circular grooves for a sword butt and hanging drill hole to the centre; a green and russet jade scabbard fitting, the top surface carved in low relief with a sinuous dragon confronting a small fish, the underside carved with a small duck in relief -- the first 3¼in. (8.3cm.) wide. (4)
