With an ear-shaped handle, painted en camaïeu bleu after Boucher with Cupid seated on clouds holding a bow, within a richly-gilt and tooled shaped oval cartouche issuing diaper-pattern panels and garlands (small footrim chip, very minor surface scratching)

Normally associated with the painter Dodin, such compositions were based on Boucher's work of the mid 1730s in Livre de Groupes d'Enfants. For a similarly decorated cup and saucer by Dodin, see Tamara Préaud and Antoinette Faÿ-Hallé, Porcelaines de Vincennes Les Origines de Sèvres Exhibition Catalogue, Grand Palais, Paris, 14 October 1977 - 16 January 1978, cat. no. 331.

Charles Buteux (l'aîné, later père) was a painter of figures, trophies and flowers at Sèvres from 1756 to 1782, and Jean-Baptiste Tandart (l'aîné) was a painter of flowers from 1754 to 1800.
