The scroll-sided case with an anthemion cresting and with pierced musical note decoration to the sides, also with silk-backed sound frets, the white enamel Roman and Arabic dial signed 'FERDINAND BERTHOUD', with later gilt-metal hands, the eight day timepiece movement with circular plates joined by four back-pinned pillars, single barrel with anchor escapement with silk suspension, repeat work positioned on the back plate, this also signed 'Ferdinand Berthoud Paris', pull quarter repeat on single bell with two hammers; pendulum, winding key, regulation key
