The first with pink cornflower sprigs within a gilt band, the border with a chain of blue flowering vine; the second painted allover with sprigs of blue cornflowers; both with rocaille shell handles and gilt dentil rims

Lot Essay

Jean-Josèphine Roguier is recorded at Sèvres as a flower painter 1782-1793; his fellow painter Marie-Jeanne-Barbe Bunel also as specializing in flowers 1777-1816. Their colleague Pierre-Jean-Baptiste Vandé fils is recorded at Sèvres as a gilder and painter of flowers and patterns 1779-1824.
