Lot Essay

Schlabitz studied from 1872 to 1882 in Berlin and continued his artistic education in Paris from 1883 to 1884. From 1887 onwards he was active as a genre painter in Berlin. He taught at the art academy in Berlin between 1908 and 1917. Later on in his career he moved to Tirol and remained there untill his death in 1943.

Schlabitz studierte von 1872 bis 1882 in Berlin und setzte seine künstlerische Ausbildung von 1883 bis 1884 in Paris fort. Ab 1887 war er aktiv als Genremaler in Berlin, wo er von 1908 bis 1917 an der Kunstakademie unterrichtete. Später zog er nach Tirol wo er 1943 starb.
