MARK OF THOMAS GILPIN, LONDON, 1749
Each shaped oval on four quilted legs with shell feet, with quilted handle, engraved with a coat-of-arms on one side and a crest on the other, each marked underneath
9 in. (23 cm.) long

The arms are Plumptre impaling Eyre with a cadency mark of a martlet for the fourth son, for Polydore Plumptre (1714-1777) and his wife Elizabeth Eyre, whom he married in 1760. He was the fourth son of John Plumptre of Nottingham (1679-1751) and his wife Annabella (d. 1745), eldest daughter of Sir Francis Molyneux, 4th Bt, of Teversall.
The later crests are those of Berry, for Sir James Gomer Berry, 1st Bt, and 1st Viscount Kemsley, of Dropmore, Co Buckingham, created a baronet on 25 January 1928. He was created Baron Kemsley in 1936 and and
Viscount Kemsley in 1945. (2)
