Bottle numbers 5869 and 5870. Levels one 2 cms and one 3.5 cms below the corks
Tasting note: Expensive, even in 1974, yet half the price of Romanée-Conti. In a state of puberty in 1977 but by 1980 a well-developed energetic adolescent. In 1983 stylish, elegant, fragrant, its otherwise deep colour starting to show some maturity. At 'sweet 17', refined, superb with much more to come, February 1988. Most recently a magnum at Wilf Jaeger's DRC tasting: brownish, mature rim; very sweet, fully ripe 'boiled beetroot' nose of great depth and which held magnificently (though one distinguished guest described the bouquet as 'dying flowers' - as a result of the hail). Sweet entry, lovely flavour but a fairly swingeingly dry finish. March 2002 **** Michael Broadbent, Vintage Wine
