A group of four papier-mâché lacquer snuff-boxes
by the Lukutin Factory, Moscow, mid and late 19th century
Rectangular, each decorated on the hinged cover, the first, painted with a portrait of Tsar Nicholas I in the uniform, the interior painted to simulate tortoiseshell; the second, with a cameo depicting Alexander the Great, within a gold and blue enamel bezel; another, smaller, painted with a coachman in tradional blue coat and a red hat, each marked inside cover; and a miniature example painted with a soldier and his horse at rest, apparently unmarked
