by the Lukutin Factory, Moscow, 1841-63; Sokolov [work]shop, early 19th century
A rectangular snuff-box, painted throughout to simulate tortoiseshell, the cover painted with a portrait of Tsar Aleksei Mikhailovich wearing the crown of Monomakh, within a raised border, with flared thumb-piece; another, with rounded corners, the hinged cover painted with a portrait of Peter the Great looking through a telescope, both marked inside covers; a further example, the cover painted en grisaille with a military camp by night; together with a vesta-case, with winter troika scene, with detachable cover, striker under base; both apparently unmarked; and an oval brooch depicting a lady at a table, marked on the reverse
