AN APULIAN RED-FIGURED BELL-KRATER
ATTRIBUTED TO THE LUCERA PAINTER, CIRCA 340-320 B.C.
The obverse with a nude satyr and a nude youth, possibly Dionysos, the satyr to the left leaning forward and stepping up on a rock, a patera in his left hand, reaching forward with his right, the youth seated on his mantle, a phiale in his left hand, a thyrsos in his right, rosettes in the field; the reverse with two standing draped youths, quartered balls above; an encircling band of meander and dotted crossed squares below the scenes, laurel below the rim, palmettes and tendrils below the handles, lines on the handle roots, details in added white
