The centre decorated with two fantastical birds within an oval cartouche on black ground, surrounded by four more birds amidst scrolling foliage on a matt silver-gilt ground, both contained within a white border, the sides with a band of pale-blue flower-heads and turquoise links on a black ground, push-button thumbpiece and gilt interior
