Probably French, with heavy iron barrel widening towards an elliptical muzzle, built on an earlier English military Long Land Pattern musket lock of rounded type, signed 'Galton' and engraved 'GR' crowned, walnut full stock (the fore-end and the area above the lock each repaired), plain iron mounts of French regulation type, and original iron ramrod
