The Collection of the late Michael (Micky) Renshaw, Esq. Michael (Micky) Renshaw (1908-1978) was the son of Lady Winifred Renshaw (neé Clements) and the godson of Horatio Kitchener, 1st Earl Kitchener (1850-1916). A popular society figure, Micky Renshaw frequently entertained the likes of Cecil Beaton and James Lees-Milne, both of whom mention him in their diaries. The Collection includes a number of items inherited from Lady Juliet Duff (1881-1965), known for her friendships with many of the great and good of the early 20th century including Maurice Baring, Hilaire Belloc and Winston Churchill. Lady Juliet Duff's mother was Lady de Grey, a highly important figure in London Theatre and Ballet, and who was influential in securing Diaghilev's Ballet Russes historic season at Covent Garden in 1911. Appropriately, the Collection offered here includes drawings by Leon Bakst and Jean Cocteau alongside theatrical drawings by Rex Whistler. Christie's are delighted to offer property from the Collection of the late Michael (Micky) Renshaw, which once adorned his Lennox Gardens home in London and Cyprus villa.

Each with a rectangular canted angle top and central inlaid penwork panel depicting a charioteer surrounded by hound's tooth and crossbanded borders, above an inlaid turned support on featherbanded quadripartite shaped scrolled legs, each inscribed 'FC' to the underside and numbered '8/4' and '8/2' respectively
