A LARGE CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE 'EIGHTEEN LUOHAN' PORCELAIN PUNCH BOWL
LATE 18TH EARLY 19TH CENTURY
Finely enamelled with gilt detailing, the exterior with a continuous scene depicting The Eighteen Luohan holding their attributes and accompanied by a deer, a pair of quail, a tiger, a dragon and a Buddhist lion, all on a grassy bank with rocky outcrops and beside a pine tree, the centre of the interior with chrysanthemum, lotus and peony amongst scrolling foliage, and two pairs of dragons striding amongst bamboo and confronted around flaming pearls below the rim
15½ in. (39.5 cm.) diam.
