The domed and sarcophagus 'cellaret' design found popular appeal in the 1780's George III 'antique' fashion, promoted by architects such as James Wyatt and later popularised by Messrs A. Hepplewhite & Co.'s, Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, 1788.
