Heavily potted, the ovoid body tapering to a waisted neck below the finger-grooved mouth with everted rim, covered with a thin crackle-suffused glaze of yellowish-olive color continuing over the rim and falling in a somewhat irregular line on the lower body to expose the white slip and the fine grey ware, raised on a flared foot with flat base

A slightly smaller (26.4 cm.) vase of very similar form, also dated to the Tang dynasty, is illustrated in Zui To no Bijutsu, vol. 3, 1976, p. 10, no. 1-58.

The result of Oxford Authentication thermoluminescence test no. P108y3 is consistent with the dating of this lot.
