Compare the similar dish (Fig. 1) described as having a 'rose-purple' glaze and of Jun type in the Qing Court Collection illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - 37 - Monochromes, Beijing, 1999, no. 176. It is dated to the Xuande period. Although a little smaller (15.9 cm. diam.) the shape of this dish and that of the present dish appear to be similar, as does the thinning of the glaze on the rim. See, also, another slightly larger (17.6 cm. diam.) dish of this shape, but with a Ru-type glaze, bearing a Xuande reign mark, illustrated ibid., no. 211. Another very similar dish of comparable size (Fig. 2) is in the collection of the Seikado Bunko Foundation, Tokyo, and illustrated in Masterpieces from the Seikado Collection: Chinese Art of the Song and Yuan Dynasties, Tokyo, 2002, no. 43.
