Lot Essay

A blue-glazed bottle vase of similar form with identical apochryphal Xuande mark incised in the glazed base, ascribed to the early 18th century, is illustrated by J. Ayers, The Baur Collection: Chinese Ceramics, vol. II, Geneva, 1999, p. 59, no. 181, and the mark shown on p. 240; while a copper-red bottle vase of related form in the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco is illustrated by He Li, Chinese Ceramics. A New Comprehensive Survey, New York, 1996, pp. 282-3, no. 561, with the mark shown on p. 317.
