Persian manuscript on gold-speckled paper, 4ll. of black nasta'liq, the signature below the last line, laid down on blue paper with gold floral illuminated margins, with gold frame within black rules, slightly trimmed, minor scuffing and creases

Lot Essay

This panel was written by Qutb al-Din Muhammad al-Yazdi for Lutfallah Naqqash (the Painter). Qutb al-Din al-Yazdi, a nasta'liq scribe, is the author of the treatise called Risalah Qutb al-Din Qissah Khwan on biography of scribes. His recorded works are dated between AH 978/1570-71 AD and AH 1000/1594-95 AD. The only work recorded by Lutfallah Naqqash is dated Jumada II AH 997/April-May 1598.
