Persian manuscript on variously coloured gold illuminated paper, 6ff. plus 2 fly-leaves, each folio with 6ll. of elegant black nasta'liq with smaller black interlinear Persian translation, text panels laid down between gold and polychrome rules on coloured margins with heavy gold sprinkling or floral illumination, opening folio with gold and polychrome illuminated headpiece, colophon signed Ahmad al-Husayni al-Mashhadi al-Khatib, slight staining and worming, loose in card boards

Ahmad al-Husayni al-Mashhadi (d. AH 986/1578-79 AD) was a well-known calligrapher and pupil of Mir 'Ali in Herat. He moved with his master to Bukhara and throughout his life worked at the courts of 'Abd al-'Aziz Khan in Bukhara, Shah Tahmasp in Tabriz, Mir Murad Khan in Mazandaran and Shah Isma'il in Qazvin. He was responsible for the compilation of the Amir Ghayb Bayg album, now in the Topkapi (2161, Mehdi Bayani, Ahval va asar-i khosh nevisan, Vol. I, Teheran 1345 sh., pp.44-54).
