Persian manuscript on thick cream paper, 22ff. plus 2 fly-leaves, the manuscript in sections: the first, the commentary (sharh) on Himyari's Qasida with 10ll. of flowing black nasta'liq in clouds reserved against gold ground and with important words picked out in black or gold naskh, the second, the munajat of 'Ali with 5ll. of black naskh in clouds reserved against gold ground alternated with lines of Persian translation in red nasta'liq, the final section of prayers with 10ll. of elegant and bold black naskh in clouds reserved against gold ground, important words and phrases picked out in red, headings throughout in bold gold naskh on coloured ground with gold illumination, the text throughout between gold and polychrome rules and gold outer rules, the margins of the first section with gold and polychrome illumination of cusped cartouches within a band of meandering leafy vine, colophon signed Ahmad al-Nayrizi and dated 1127, some worm holing and light staining, in possibly contemporary gold and black lacquer binding with dense central floral panel, red doublures
