Arabic manuscript on paper, 200ff. plus 5 fly-leaves, each folio with 18ll. of black naskh in cloud bands on gold ground, tiny gold and polychrome rosettes between verses, sura headings in red on gold ground within illuminated panel, marginal illuminated medallions, the text within double rules and gold frame, opening illuminated folios with list of sura and prayers to be read before reading the Qur'an, the fatiha and last sura bifolios with floral gold and polychrome illumination, dated 1196 in the colophon, later marginal notes, in lacquer binding with gilt medallion, some staining
