GRAND-PUY-LACOSTE
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste was classified as a 5eme Cru Classe estate in the 1855 Classification. Grand-Puy-Lacoste is located a couple of kilometers west of the town of Pauillac and is owned and run by the Borie family. Grand-Puy-Lacoste has 55 hectares of vines (Cabernet Sauvignon 70 Merlot 25 & Cabernet Franc 5 located in two croupes of deep gravel over limestone. The average age of vines is around 40 years. The grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and the wine is then matured in oak barriques (up to 60 new) for 15 to 18 months before being fined with egg whites and bottled. Annual production is about 300,000 bottles and the second wine is called Lacoste-Borie.
