The lambrequined frieze, strapwork decoration and volute-carved tapering legs relate this console table to Lombard examples from the first quarter of the 18th Century. Even more idiosyncratic and characteristic of the Lombard production, is the slightly angled C-scroll-carved stretcher, which feature can be found on a closely related giltwood console table with simulated marble top (ill. in C. Alberici, Il Mobile Lombardo, Milan, 1969, p.82).
