A HARDSTONE INLAID 'LOTUS' PANEL WITHIN A CARVED ZITAN FRAME
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

The rectangular shaped panel embellished with carved hardstone to depict lotus stems bearing blooms and pods with large naturalistic leaves and roots, inlaid with jade, rose quartz and glass to depict a lotus pond in various stages of bloom, set against a green and yellow lacquered ground, all within an openwork zitan frame carved as intertwined lotus stems issuing pods, flowers and leaves
