Sadakatsu (1869-1943), was the son of Gassan Sadakazu, who had been appointed as a Teishitsu Gigei-In [Imperial Artist] by the Meiji government in 1906. He kept the family tradition of ayasugi hada, but like his father, excelled in the Bizen style, and worked sometimes in Soshu style. He was commissioned by the Imperial Household agency to make swords for presentation to senior military officers.
