Accompanied by a certificate of registration as a Tokubetsu Kicho Token [Particularly Valuable Sword] no. 380309 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai [Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword] issued on 8th December 1979.
Sadakatsu (1869-1943), was the son of Gassan Sadakazu, who had been appointed as a Teishitsu Gigei-In [Imperial Artist] by the Meiji government in 1906. He kept the family tradition of ayasugi hada, but like his father, excelled in the Bizen style, and worked sometimes in Soshu style. He was commissioned by the Imperial Household agency to make swords for presentation to senior military officers.
