3 volumes, 8° (247 x 160mm). Index bound in vol. 1 and with printed ticket. 83 engraved plates, one of these hand-coloured, and engraved vignettes throughout, some of these on india paper. (Without half-titles, plates with variable spotting, one leaf with an old marginal repair.) Contemporary polished calf, sides with wide border in blind with gilt rule and corner fleurons, marbled edges, blue coated enpapers (spines evenly faded, light rubbing).

FIRST EDITION IN A HANDSOME BINDING of Dibdin's bibliophilic travel book. 'The plates alone were supposed to have cost £5000 and became a sought-after collector's item' (DNB). Includes valuable information on the state of institutional and private libraries during the Bourbon Restoration, descriptions of bookshops and interviews with bibliographers ('Vous voila, Mons.
