DUBLIN SILVER HALLMARKS FOR 1808
Silver maker's mark IE for either James England or John Egan, with curved fullered blade etched over nearly its entire length with panels of burnished foliage, flowers and trophies-of-war heightened with blue and gilt detail, including the figures of Britannia, the Royal cypher and Royal coat-of-arms, and preserved in very fine condition, silver-gilt hilt cast in relief, the forward quillon formed as a bird-of-prey, the rear quillon as it's tallons clutching a ball, helmet pommel, the badge of The Illustrious Order of St. Patrick as a silver and blue enamelled oval carried by the knuckle-guard, and chequered ivory grip, in its gilt-copper scabbard signed 'J. Lamprey Sword Cutler 29 Westmorland St Dublin', and with presentation inscription listing the regimental officers and appointments

The inscription reads: 'This Sword presented to Lord Viscount Delvin late Colonell (sic) of the Westmeath Militia by the Underneath Officers as a Testamony (sic) of their esteem'.
