On 17 August 1738, the city of Bologna celebrated the wedding of CHARLES VII (1716-1788), King of Naples and Sicily, and MARIA AMALIA of Saxony (1724-1760). This work provides the text of the musical serenade performed in the couple's honor, as well as the sonnets written by local poets and dedicated to Charles and his bride. The first plate illustrates the magnificent stage built to receive the couple and the second shows a panoramic view of the theater with the gardens in the center and an impressive representation of Mount Vesuvius shooting out fireworks in the background.
