Contemporary red morocco gilt, roll-tooled outer border, a central panel of double fillets, outer corners stamped with gilt fleur-de-lys, inner corners with royal monogram, spine in seven compartments each stamped with monogram (rebacked old spine laid down, light wear to corners).
The coronation in 1727 of KING GEORGE II (1683-1730) and QUEEN CAROLINE (1683-1737) of Brandenburg-Ansbach, was one of the most magnificent of British crownings. The coronation was celebrated in Hanover, the royal couple was represented by Frederick Louis, Prince of Wales (1707-1751). The festival included fireworks, triumphal arches and the unveiling of over 100 emblematic paintings. The plates are after JOHANN ANTON VON KLYHER (fl. 1712-1727) and GEORG PAUL BUSCH (d. 1729).
