4o (195 x 153 mm). 2 engraved folding plates after SANTURINI by MELCHIOR KüSSELL (1622-1683). (Some light soiling.) Unbound, old paper backstrip; cloth folding case.

FERDINAND MARIA, (1636-1679) Elector of Bavaria and his wife HENRIETTE ADELAIDE of Savoy, (1636 -1676) celebrate the birth of their son LUDWIG AMADEUS VICTOR, Prince of Bavaria (6 April-11 December 1665) with a ballet performed in Munich on 28 May 1655. The two very fine plates illustrate scenes for the ballet. The occasion also included a comedy and fireworks. The Turin born Henriette Adellaide invited many Italian artist to Munich and introduced the Italian opera in Bavaria.
