This series records the lavish festival that was held in Rome every year on the occasion of the presentation of a white horse (chinea) by the King of Spain, and later the King of the Two Sicilies, to the Pope in a mark of loyalty. The scenes show the machines or elaborate structures upon which the fireworks were disposed. The include large painted allegories called prospettive. This series covers Popes Innocent XIII through Benedict XIV.
