The Greate Heball translates the French Grant Herbier or Abrolaye (themselves versions of Circa instans) and first was published in English in the exceedingly scarce 1526 edition (see previous lot). All sixteenth-century editions have become quite scarce on the market, with none of this 1561 edition appearing since this copy was last sold in 1999, according to American Book Prices Current. This is a wide-margined copy preserving some deckle edges. STC 13179.
