A RARE PALE GREENISH-WHITE AND PALE BROWN JADE BIRD-FORM FITTING
TANG/LIAO DYNASTY, 10TH-11TH CENTURY
Well carved in the round as a recumbent bird with bent legs carved flat on the underside, the long neck arched sharply back where it meets upturned tail feathers to create a narrow horizontal slot, while a circular channel pierces the body from the chest and issues as a tube between the tail feathers, the head and feathers well detailed, with russet markings in the stone
