Well carved with deep sides rising from the rounded ring foot, of rich, dark russet color with areas of semi-translucency and areas of blackish-brown color almost like the burled areas of wood
3 in. (7.7 cm.) diam., fitted ivory openwork stand

Compare a jade bowl of the same shape but slightly larger size (10.8 cm.), dated to the 12th-14th century, in the collection of the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco, included in the exhibition, Chinese Jade Throughout the Ages, Oriental Ceramic Society, London, 1 May - 22 June 1975, no. 270.
