A RARE BRONZE RITUAL TRIPOD FOOD VESSEL, DING
SHANG DYNASTY, 12TH CENTURY BC
The shallow rounded bowl raised on three tall, flat supports cast on the sides in intaglio with dragons ascending from the outward-curved feet, the sides encircled by a band of flat-cast cicadas with prominent proboscises above pendent blades, the decoration with black inlay, with a pair of bail handles rising from the narrow, flat rim, the interior wall cast with an inscription, with mottled patina and malachite encrustation
