OTTOMAN TURKEY, CIRCA 16TH CENTURY
Arabic manuscript on paper. 662ff. plus 2 fly-leaves, each folio with 23ll. of small black naskh, important words and phrases picked out in red, text panels with gold rules, the margins with copious marginal notes written on the diagonal within further goldand blue outer rules, catchwords, opening bifolio with fine gold and polychrome illumination surrounding 12ll. of text in clouds reserved against gold ground, preceeding folio with shamsa with probably later inscription indicating that the manuscript was produced for the treasury of Sultan Ya'qub Bahadur Khan, colophon page replaced and with later date of 528, later owner's stamps and notes, in brown morocco with flap with central gilt medallion, paper doublures
