AN APULIAN RED-FIGURE HYDRIA
CIRCA MID-4TH CENTURY B.C.
With a central stele tied with a fillet and a phiale above, flanked on either side with two standing nude youths, cloaks draped over arms and berried fillets in their hair, both with knobbed staffs, one wearing buttoned boots and holding a patera and phiale, the other with mirror and fillet, large palmette under pouring handle, zigzag groundline, band of laurel around neck, details in added white and yellow

Previously in a private collection, London; acquired in the late 1990s: sold Bonhams, London, 20 October 2005, lot 302.
