A SOUTH ITALIAN RED-FIGURE BELL KRATER
PROBABLY 4TH CENTURY B.C.
Side A: winged Eros holding wreath and situla, bending forwards towards a draped female seated on a rocky outcrop, holding mirror and casket, bucrania in the field
Side B: two himation clad youths, each holding a staff
Palmettes under the handles, groundline of meander and dotted squares, band of laurel under the rim, details in added white and yellow

Collection of an Austrian noble family, acquired 1750-1780.
