The very fine dark-brown-lacquered helmet of thirty-eight plates with gilt fukurin (edging) on the suji (ridges), the brim with aged leather and nine gilt star-shaped rivets with a gilt fukurin carved with foliation, the fukigaeshi pierced with the kuyo (nine stars) mon (family crest) and with gilt fukurin, the tehen kanamono gilt and with engraved foliation and with double-rings of shakudo, the maedate fixture gilt and carved roundly with kuyo and paulownia mon against foliage, with kuwagata (decorative horn shapes) and a central ken-type sword (double-edged sword with a Buddhist vajra hilt) and with fine shinodare, two each at the four quadrants of the helmet crown, edged with rope-scrolling of shakudo and gilt, the agamaki kan (cord ring) gilt with a paulownia mon; with four-lame black-lacquered honkozane neck guard laced in midnight blue
