Edo period (18th-19th century)
An impressive helmet of a shishi (lion dog) head in uchidashi formed from a single sheet of iron, lacquered black, with gilt eyes, deeply formed curling hair and eyebrows, five-tiered shikoro (neck guard) of kittsukezane (solid plate simulating a row of scales)
